Château de Versailles

It would be unthinkable not to invite you to visit the “Château de Versailles” when our hotel is called Roi Soleil!

It is 16 km from the Hotel Roi Soleil Prestige Plaisir-St Quentin that this breathtaking monument is located, the main successive residence of the kings of France, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI.

Its construction, begun in 1623, was born from the will of King Louis XIV who wished, by the excessive size of the domain, to represent the power of the French monarchy.

The castle is the most important monument of his reign and one of the most beautiful pieces in terms of classical architecture.

Its park covered an area of 8,000 hectares until the French Revolution reduced it to 815 hectares.

During your visit, you will discover different areas, including: the Petit and Grand Trianon (which was the residence of great historical figures, such as Napoleon Ier and Charles X), the Queen’s hamlet (an outbuilding of the Petit Trianon, once occupied by Marie-Antoinette), the Grande Écurie, an  orangery, and a pond called “the Swiss water feature“. This name comes from the fact that the pond was dug by Swiss guards to supply the King’s vegetable garden.

Take a step back in time as you visit.

Open your eyes wide and savor every detail of this architectural masterpiece, a precious heritage of French history.

Audio-guided tours are offered to allow you to visit the different spaces independently. Please note that the reservation of a time slot for all participants is mandatory (tickets can be reserved online).

Parking is available for a fee, and the estate is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

To make your visit easier, the estate has several free drinking water points, phone charging stations and changing tables.

Enjoy your visit!
