A permanent exhibition in the streets of Mons
International artists have left their mark on Mons…
Following a route of about 7 km in the city centre and in some villages of Grand Mons, you will discover 49 colourful artistic frescoes, each of which carries its own message.
Indeed, beyond an artistic project, Mons has allowed artists from all over the world to express themselves on the walls of the city, on subjects that touch them: childhood memories, social issues, their origins, or even what inspires them.
The idea of the project “L’Art habite la ville” (Art lives in the city) is to represent a multicultural identity through these original urban works of art, which adorn the walls of the city and make a visit to Mons all the more attractive for visitors.
You don’t need to be an expert to be touched by the beauty of the works. You will notice the different style of each artist, offering a diversity of style from one fresco to another.
For some it is abstract art, for others it is representations executed with a remarkable sense of detail.
« L’Art habite la ville » puts culture on display and within everyone’s reach.
It’s up to you to conquer the “Street Art” of Mons!
Guided tours, combining heritage and urban art, are offered from the Visit Mons reception office on the Grand-Place.
Mons is the cultural capital of Wallonia since 2015…now you know why!
