Oceanographic museum of Monaco

The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco is a must-see in the South East of France and more particularly on the French Riviera. It was founded in 1889 by Prince Albert I of Monaco and inaugurated in 1910.

It is a 6,000m² building that welcomes 675,000 visitors every year. It is installed on the side of a cliff and goes down to the sea. It is made up of 90 tanks containing 50 species of fish and it is possible to see over 6,000 specimens in total.

The museum is very committed to the protection of endangered marine species and is involved in many programs.

In addition to a wide variety of marine species, the museum also has a large number of arts and crafts related to the sea. The museum aims to educate and raise awareness of the variety of the marine world.
